Why I have chosen not to accept insurance at this time...

I have watched my preceptors and other midwives struggle in dealing with insurance companies.  It is very frustrating, it often takes much longer to get paid for your work, and is not worth the headache when you finally do get paid.

I am sorry if this inconveniences anyone seeking my services.  Many insurance companies provide a way for you to submit claims for payments that you make to care providers.  If you have insurance, you may want to check with them to see if they will reimburse you for the expense of prenatal care and the birth.

Because I keep my practice very simple and do not accept third-party payments, I am also a non-covered entity under HIPAA.  I believe this provides greater privacy and protection of my clients' personal information.  For more information on this topic, visit the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.
