On the heels of my most recent student passing her NARM exam (Congratulations, Megan!), I have registered for the annual Gold Midwifery Conference. As a midwife I am required to have at least 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years. This conference offers 16 of those hours and it's online, so I don't have to worry that I will miss someone's birth to attend!
Learning as a midwife never ends. I'm a perpetual student and I'm proud of that. I don't want my knowledge or my care to stagnate. It is important to keep up with the latest research and clinical guidelines to give the best care to my clients. That's why I registered for Gold and why I am always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge and my skills.
I can also vouch for the fact that my students frequently teach me a thing or two, as well! I should never be too proud to admit that. Nobody knows it all and it is important to maintain a humble attitude about exactly what the limits of my knowledge and skills are. I'm always striving to improve and learn more, but there is always so much more to be learned.
